How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?
During the Pandemic the event industry suddenly stopped . We worked in the circus and entertainment industry and suddenly we found ourselves on another planet.
I wanted to feel useful and to work . I got a job in a care home and armed with PPE and litres of hand sanitiser I quickly learned skills on the job. It was a baptism of fire ! I took qualifications in healthcare and moved from the care home into the community. These were scary times, when the people I met were feeling scared and lonely, and were isolated in their homes.
At the end of extremely long shifts and stressful days dealing with end of life care and people living with dementia, it was circus skills that I returned to. There wasn’t much else to do in lockdown ! Locking myself away in the shed, I practiced new circus tricks and this seemed to provide the ultimate stress relief. Circus skills gave me much comfort in an unknown crazy world !
After lockdown ended, I found my self in two worlds , the world of health and social care and the circus world. Two very different worlds and I love the diversity and challenges of each one.
