A lucky break

Have you ever broken a bone?

Here in the UK the phrase “break a leg” is said before a performance instead of “good luck,” It is considered bad luck to wish someone good luck before a performance so instead you say “break a leg”

In a country full of superstition we wouldn’t even be able to say ” I’ve never broken a bone ”  without adding the phrase “touch wood” and tapping something wooden . This is because it is thought you might tempt fate by uttering such a phrase.

We are off to our circus zone in Plymouth today and will bo doubt be saluting magpies and avoiding walking under ladders whilst we are there.
